Turks & Caicos - Kiting, Wakeboarding and Windvibes

We are now here the 9th day on Turks and Caicos. So far we have been 5 days on the water with great conditions and the forecast for the rest looks extremely well. So we are pretty excited to get such good riding here on the island. The conditions remind you of a laboratory: crystal clear water, waist deep, turqish and the most constant wind imaginable. New tricks are coming to me every day, but no wonders in these super easy conditions…. But still, this makes you enjoy kiting a lot! On one day I had already 3 extremely long session on the water so at the end I was so exhausted I could not even unhook anymore. So I simply showed off with some nice board offs that I hadnt done in 2 years or so… It was a sweet change of motions and the people on the beach almost freaked out ;-)

Yesterday was the first day for 4 days that I could not kite due to unsuitable conditions, which didnt matter as I wanted to take a day off relaxing and studying anyways. Well, Gregory, a local here from the island came over to invite us on a trip in his yacht… and I mean YACHT! We cruised around the island, checking the coast line from waterside, went on anker closeby a sunk pirate ship and had a nice sunset wakeboard session. In the end, our planned day-off turned into an unforgettable adventure trip… Thanx Greg!!

Today the wind was back. An only 15 year old girl named Hope was organizing the Kiteevent Windvibes a big event on the Island. I was invited to be the honored guest, so I helped a little here and there, had my own show-off session and judged the freestyle tricks of the other competitors. All in all the event was extremely successful! Lots of spectators came and cheered for all the riders. Thanx to all the sponsors and Hope for making this possible. Before sunset I just had a nice Wave-Session out on the reef. Extremely impressive, seeing the red ball sinking into the water. The waves were only 2m high, but the reef was only a few cm under the surface and I could see some small sharks and rays swimming under me in the water… no interest into crashing ;-) It was really unforgettable!

The sole thought, that the wind would get even better and the waves will become higher makes me wishing that I never ever have to go back home. It is really unbelievably nice here with Jac. Today we are having full moon here and the locals are celebrating the first full moon of the year extensively… so lets see, the night is still young ;-)

Cheers from the paradise
