PKRA Venezuela - DAY11+12 - 13th after the Doubles
Initially we just wanted to go to El Yaque to watch the Finals of the Singles there. We took our kite stuff with us as the rest of the competition would be held there anyways. To our big surprise the organiser of the event let us know that they wanted to start the Doubles right after the Singles, meaning for me, that I had to be the last heat of the day against Paul Caswell!The wind was undulating and so I had rigged up all my sizes from 9 to 13 qm. Just before my heat however, competition got cancelled for the day due the light winds. Pile however, had just finished his heat, and he was totally underpowered, and so he was the unlucky last one, to get kicked out in 5 kts of winds... what a joke!!!
The next day we left our hotel at 8:30 AM to get ready for the comp. My first heat was against Paul Caswell. As I was the total favorit to win this heat, both of us had a lot of fun, and I even showed one of HIS spezial tricks: The Canonball :-)
v My next heat was against Peter Tuyskevich, 3rd in France. I had a super sick heat landing 4 Switch-Tricks, a grabbed KGB and a well powered SlimChance. Just bevor the end I wanted to land a Frontmobe to blind, however, I got caught in the chop and crashed. The horn blew seconds later and so I kited back to the beach. Peter congratulated me to my nice effort, and both of us were not sure who won, even though I had been the underdog. Still, I lost, and therbey I also got kicked off my TOP10 place.
Even though I was a little disapointed with my loss, a lot of riders showed me respect for my improved riding, and I could defenitely see my training paying off! Therefore I was super motivated to go fullspeed here this upcoming week to get even better for Cabarete. Austria Team-member Mike Schitzhofer was more lucky with the draw, had easier oponents and thereby got 9th place. Super-Mario made super sweet 6th place! Congratulations to both of them!
Pile and me will now train another week here, and Mike and Mario will leave us today. I also made a small shorclip of one of my heats... i will put it online as soon as the internet gets faster than 1kb/sec ;-) As soon as there are any news, I will let you know!
