Honkong & Taiwan
10 days in Hong Kong and Taiwan... and I am already on my way back home! Sorry, for not giving you any updates, but there had been non-stop action and I wanted to focus on getting great material and good promotion there! First I was 5 days at the KTA in Hong Kong as a Promotion-Rider and judge, and afterwards I flew to Taiwan for 5 day to write a travelstory for Fone and Stance-magazine...The whole trip was my first one in East Asia, and I am totally stoked about it. It is so great to see how eager the people work in the kiteboarding world here, their engagement is way bigger than the one in Europe or America! I met lots of super nice people, most of all Robert Chen, who I will work with from now on in regards of all the Asian matters, and Vivian Lam, my new foto- and moviedesigner. I spent so much unforgetable time with them, and I cant wait to go back to HKG or Taiwan and kite there again!
Honkong was just crazy. 8 Mio people living on just the eigth of the space of NYC. Super stress and pure hectism. The first time I saw the whole skyline from the harbor I was just totally speechless, it is indescribable beautiful! I got invited to the 2nd tourstop of the KTA as a Promo-rider and judge. We were quite unlucky with the conditions, but still, we had loads of fun all together and the whole event was a great success.
After that I flew to Taiwan for 5 days to get a travelstory done for Fone and Stance Magazine. As there had never been a prowindsurfer or prokitesurfer there, it was pretty funny to get everything organized. People were just amazed to see a total different level of riding, and all the planning and organizing was pretty confused. Still, Robert, Vivian, our driver Doris and the local Fone distributor Pete managed to get unbelievable great shots on the water as well as lifestyle! I will never forget kiting just a little bit in front of T101, the 2nd highest building of the world, or bathing in 42 degree hot natural springs, those heat you could only stand with some tricks!!!
To talk about all the cool things we did and encountered would definitely exceed the intent of my website, so if you read every great detail of the trip you have to get the next issue of Stance magazine and get all the dirty little details ;-) As always I have created a small Honkong & Taiwan Gallery.
In the future I will try to travel more into East- and Southeast-Asia, as the kindness and calmness of the people is one of its kind! Anyways, I am now back home in Innsbruck for a week, working on my medical degree… Then I will be off again to my next trip to Capetown… stay posted!!!
Cheers
Jule
